Fortum new Premium Partner of Gothia Cup

Fortum premium partner

Fortum is a new Premium Partner of Gothia Cup, the world’s largest international youth football tournament. The partnership aims to highlight the energy that football creates and the friendships that grow across borders when young people from around the world come together.

– We are very much looking forward to collaborating with Fortum. For us, it is important to engage around the entire tournament experience. One of the greatest values of Gothia Cup is the international exchange and the friendships across borders that the tournament creates for young people through football, says Niclas Freiholtz, General Secretary of Gothia Cup.
– Through our sustainability concept Celebrate, where we bring sustainability to life and make it part of the experience, we create tangible impact. In this work, Fortum’s values around human rights, health, community engagement and the electrification of society through fossil-free electricity play a major role.

For Fortum, Gothia Cup represents values such as inclusion, equality, respect and wellbeing. Through nearly 5,000 matches on 125 pitches, 2,500 volunteers and 40,000 young people from around 80 countries, energy and community are created far beyond the football pitch.
– Energy is not only about what we produce. We also want to support the next generation and celebrate the positive energy that brings people together, builds self-confidence and moves us forward, says Aki Koskinen, Director Brand and Reputation at Fortum.

The collaboration with Gothia Cup is part of Fortum’s ambition to contribute to the communities in which the company operates.
– Gothia Cup is something special for all of us who live and work in Gothenburg, and the tournament represents values that are very close to our own at Fortum. Many of us share the joy of football – as players, parents or supporters. In addition, we can see the arena from our office here in Gothenburg, says Fredrik Landahl, Head of Fortum’s Swedish electricity retail business.
